Erin's Wedding

We met Erin 11 years ago, when she and Jason started their internship at Mayo Clinic- Jacksonville. We spent the year eating cheeseburgers, walking on the golf course, playing at the beach, and somewhere in there they learned how to be doctors--really great doctors, actually. We all stayed close (there was a group of 7 or so who were tight).

Erin is from Oklahoma City, and she likes Sonic, golf, Mexican food, sports, Dr. Pepper, and Oklahoma State University. On our recent trip to OKC we learned why: those things are everywhere. There is a Sonic on every corner, a Mexican restaurant every other corner, and you can't escape Dr. Pepper or OSU.

Erin had a backyard wedding at her parents' house. It was perfect. Well, except for the hotness level. The wedding was at 7:30, and the temperature was still over 100.
More on the wedding later.

We got there on Friday and decided to go to Ted's for dinner. Ted's is Erin's favorite Mexican restaurant. We knew it would be crowded so we got there at 4:50. We were out of there by 5:30. It was the quickest, most delicious, easiest dinner we've had with all four kids. I think Bo ate four bowls of queso. And Tucker loved my taco salad. For some reason they all behaved. Maybe it was because they enjoyed the food so much.

Tucker, by the way, is getting so big. I think he understands a lot more than I thought he did. We were in the elevator and I told Bo that his brother was going to want to push the buttons too some day and that he was going to have to take turns. The next time we were in the elevator Tucker reached out to push the buttons. And when we were at Sonic for the second time he was upset because he knew everybody but him was getting slushes. So we got him a water. He was thrilled.

At the hotel he really didn't want to take naps. We let him out of his pack n play to try napping with his sisters. It didn't work, but it made a cute picture.

The wedding was Saturday night. The temperature on our car said 120, but that was when we were leaving a hot parking lot. I think it was more like 113. But that also made a good picture.

We took the boys over to Erin's parents' house and just put them in a bedroom. They fell asleep within minutes and stayed asleep till we got them up to take them home. Erin was gorgeous, and the flowers were simple but beautiful and fit her theme of "rustic vintage preppy." The guys wore orange ties to represent OSU, of course. Spencer said it was the most beautiful wedding ever and she didn't want to leave. She feels personally responsible for it-- she's been praying for Erin, her godmother, to get married for a long, long time. I'll leave you with a few pictures from the wedding.
